What is Alpha?
Alpha is an opportunity to explore life and the Christian faith in a friendly, open and informal environment. Essentially, Alpha is a safe place to explore life's biggest questions.
Typical Alpha Session
Every Alpha session has three key elements: food, talk and discussion. Why you ask are these three things key to Alpha.
We start with food because it is a great way of bring people together, and encourage community and get to know each other.
The talks are designed to engage and inspire conversation. Generally, the talks, whether they are live talks or played as a video, last about thirty minutes. They explore the big issues around faith and unpack the basics of Christianity, addressing questions such as Who is Jesus? and How can I have faith?
Probably the most important part of any Alpha is the chance to share thoughts and ideas on the topic, and simply discuss it in a small group. Attendees are under no obligation to say anything. And there is nothing you can't say. It's an opportunity to hear from others and contribute your own perspective in an honest, friendly and open environment.
Our Alpha Leadership Team is getting together! If you are interested in joining the team or have any questions about the course, please meet with Fr. Rick at the Alpha Table during Coffee Hour every Sunday in May.
We will start our Alpha classes in the fall, August or September, and the day and time will be announced soon.
